The POWER of prayer

Prayer is a privilege. We are able to go to Almighty God with our needs and desires and ask Him to accomplish mighty things in us. Following the five step prayer model, we encourage each other in prayer. God is at work today, and His Spirit moves as strong as it ever has. Whether after the Sunday Celebration, in our GIGs, or in everyday conversation, prayer is a real part of our ministry.

Five-step prayer model

The following is a summary of the five-step prayer model from the book Power Healing by John Wimber. We have been using this powerful method for years at the Vineyard. Contact Phil for the next training session.

Interview

Get to know the person and their situation.

Diagnose

Determine what is going on, including underlying issues, listening for the Holy Spirit to prompt.

Prayer Selection

Choose from a variety of effective methods of prayer depending on the need and situation.

The Prayer

Allow the Holy Spirit to move effectively and creatively, watching for and sensitive to what may is going on.

Post-Prayer Direction

Determine where the person is and what type of follow-up is necessary.

Vineyard Church Nacogdoches is a member of the Vineyard Community of churches. Our Sunday morning meetings at Vineyard Community Center, located just northeast of Nacogdoches, Texas, feature relevant life lessons and band-led music in a casual, friendly atmosphere. We have activities for children through grade six. During the week members host Groups Investigating God in their houses around our community. These small groups allow us to get to know each other better, talk about God's word, pray together, and meet each other's needs. Special events like Prayer on the Square, Popcorn and a Movie Night and Rocktoberfest are events we host to invite people to get to know us in a neutral atmosphere. Pastor Jim Miller has more than twenty years ministry experience. He and his wife Stephanie began Vineyard Church Nacogdoches as a home church the Sunday following the September 11 terrorist attacks. When so many people are hungry for genuine Christianity and relationships that go deeper than Sunday morning platitudes, Vineyard Church Nacogdoches strives to be "church for the rest of us," providing a safe and comfortable place for people of all backgrounds to experience Christ together.
