About us

Vision & Aims

It is our mutual desire at Vineyard Church Nacogdoches (VCN) to be "obedient to the heavenly vision" that God is entrusting to us "line upon line," as the Bible says, while we seek to follow His guidance as a church. It is our desire to pursue single-mindedly His will to the best of our ability and understanding by establishing in our community a local congregation for His glory. Therefore, we are committed to the following Vision and Aims, which we believe He has given to us over the course after many months in prayer to God and through counsel from others so that we may become what we believe the Lord has called us to be. Of course, there is much more that we hope to pursue than simply what is listed below. We also recognize that, over time, it will progress "line upon line, a little here, a little there" (Isa. 28:9-11).

We also realize that whatever resolves we as a community of believers may make in setting our course with God, it will be tested. And so, I am, with you, firmly committed to follow God as He leads us.

Our Story

The first Bible study meeting met, by coincidence, the week of September 11, 2001, with an open Thursday night fellowship study in the Millers’ home. A small group of about 15 people, shocked by the still-fresh events of 9/11, attended that first gathering. Those initial meetings, featuring "soup ‘n’ stuff", attracted a small group of unchurched Christians who had a deep hunger for fellowship and study and something besides "church as usual". Some were simply over-churched and had dropped out, others were never-churched, a couple had been de-churched but they were all un-churched and needing connection with the Body of Christ.

Our Pastor

Jim Miller is a native Texan, born in the Texas Panhandle and raised in the Houston area. Jim came to Christ in the early 1960s while a junior at the University of Houston. In 1967 he accepted his first pastorate in the Texas Big Thicket and twenty years, four pastorates and a stint as Bible college instructor later he moved to Nacogdoches, Texas and purchased and operated a Christian book and music store for the next twelve years. Jim is married to "the second best decision of my life," Stephanie. In 2001 they sold the bookstore to begin the wonderful adventure of planting a Vineyard church in Nacogdoches. The church has continued to grow spiritually and numerically and is joyfully advancing the kingdom in their area. Jim and Stephanie have a blended family of three children and seven grandchildren.
